Services & Expeditions

 

Our experienced guide will take care of you and show you the most from the surrounding nature day or night. Our cooks will cook typical dishes of Cocama tribe. You will be accommodated in our village of San Martin. It is also possible to sail up to 80 km further up the river Samiria as far as to rangers’ camp PV3.  We will camp in the forest and cook food on a fire along the way.

Example of a six-day expedition

 

First day

  • Transfer from Iquitos by car to 80 km distant city of Nauta. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Second day

  • Sailing upstream of the river Marañon and Samiria to San Martin de Tipishca.
  • During this six hour trip you will be able to watch herons, jacanas, Amazon terns and other water birds.
  • Overnight stay in the community house in the village of San Martin de Tipishca. .

Third day

  • Morning walk in the village.
  • Getting familiar with local projects, school, home of medicine-man and the way of everyday live.
  • Afternoon ride across the lagoon to observe water birds.

Fourth day

  • Full day boat trip along the main river into the heart of Samiria Reserve.
  • Observation of water birds, howler monkeys and northern night monkeys.
  • Evening return to the village. Possibility of night canoe trip to observe frogs.

Fifth day

  • Return by boat to Nauta. Drive to Iquitos.

First day

  • Transfer from Iquitos by car to 80 km distant city of Nauta. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Second day

  • Sailing upstream of the river Marañon and Samiria to San Martin de Tipishca.
  • During this six hour trip you will be able to watch herons, jacanas, Amazon terns and other water birds.
  • Overnight stay in the community house in the village of San Martin de Tipishca. .

Third day

  • Morning walk in the village.
  • Getting familiar with local projects, school, home of medicine-man and the way of everyday live.
  • Afternoon ride across the lagoon to observe water birds.
 

Fourth to Eighth day

  • Sailing up the river Samiria to PV Rangers Camp 3, which is away from San Martin about 80 km.
  • Camping, sleeping in hammocks and cooking on the fire.
  • Visits to some lagoons and oxbows.
  • Catching piranhas and cooking them in the evening.
  • Story telling around a campfire, for example about pink dolphins and big black anacondas.

Ninth day

  • Back in San Martin de Tipischca.
  • Recovering after the trip in the wilderness. Possible shoping of handicrafts: paintings, wood carvings and natural goods from Indian artists.

Tenth day

  • Return by boat to Nauta. Drive to Iquitos.


Expeditions are very flexible and adaptable to the needs of the visitors. We also offer a 3-day and 10-day expedition. The cost is $ 80 per person per day. Additional costs depend on the means of transportation.
